Teaching at CSD

Dear Prospective Teacher Applicants,

The California School for the Deaf (CSD), Fremont is looking for teachers who are committed to providing a strong academic and career preparation program using a bilingual (American Sign Language and English) approach. I’m definitely biased, but I believe CSD is the best school for the Deaf in the nation! Our teachers are dedicated to: strengthening their professional skills and knowledge; using a variety of innovative instructional strategies and resources to respond to students’ diverse needs; and engaging students in challenging and meaningful learning activities. Our curriculum specialists mentor new teachers and provide ongoing training related to school operation, educational practices, and research. A brochure is enclosed that highlights CSD’s vision, beliefs, and expected school-wide learning results.

In addition to our academic and career preparation programs, CSD has many extra-curricular activities and athletic programs to foster leadership and citizenship. A diverse student population of approximately 450 students from northern California are enrolled in the infant through high school programs in addition to a Work Readiness Program. Our students have spirit and are delightful to work with. The eagle is our mascot, and we encourage our students to soar! I hope you are interested in applying for a teaching position at this outstanding school.

Applicants need to send a completed faculty application form, a resume, copies of credentials/licenses, and sealed official transcripts from every college or university attended and letters of reference. Note that the job announcement states that applications will be accepted until all positions are filled.
