Become a volunteer at CSD!

volunteer

Some reasons to volunteer are...
Improve your signing skills; be closer to your child;
become more involved in the deaf community

How you can become a volunteer at CSD

More than 100 volunteers participate annually in the Volunteer Program at CSD. Opportunities are available for volunteers to work regularly in classrooms, cottages, offices, and for special events, as well as participate in every facet of campus life. All levels of signing skill are welcome, from beginning ASL students through native signers. In addition, CSD places volunteers with a variety of schedules. Our wonderful volunteers add a powerful dimension to our education program.

  1. Contact the Outreach Secretary for a volunteer packet and complete the application form or download the Online Application Volunteer Packet from this page. (Please note: Applicant must be at least 18 years old to apply.)

  2. Submit a current, negative, TB test result. If you’ve had one done within the last 6 months, please send a copy of that. If not, you can have one done here at CSD’s Student Health Unit for free. No appointment necessary. You can walk in on Mondays and Tuesdays (9:00-11:00a.m. or 1:00-3:00 p.m.) You must be available to return in 48 hours to have your results read and recorded. Due to the high cost to CSD for this free service to volunteers, if you fail to return 48 hours later, you must have the test done elsewhere.

  3. Submit volunteer packet (and TB test results) to:
