BLM Vlog #2

Greetings, Students, Staff, Families, Alumni and Community,

Since our school's first BLM video last June, CSD has upheld its commitment in maintaining open and honest dialogue with our cherished community and continued expanding our resources and ideas to provide valuable information and support for our students and staff related to the movement.

During Extended School Year (ESY), teachers and students had productive discussions about the BLM movement. We value safe dialogue and promote freedom and justice.

Currently we have several ongoing projects this summer. We have exciting news that I am thrilled to announce and share with you  we have developed a partnership with Victorica Monroe from Monroe Pedagogy. She will work with us to provide valuable resources and help propel us in the right direction on enhancing the process of our anti-racist/bias transformative work in every aspect of CSD, from policies and data to student organizations and curriculum, and more. This will be a long-term commitment spanning 2 years.

Allow me to share three videos with you:

  1. Victorica Monroe's biography: We know you are curious about her.
  2. Dr Liann Osborne: Sharing our school's theme for the 2020-2021 academic year emphasizing our commitment to the BLM movement
  3. Our Black students: Jayvon Harmon and Shaila Sams' BLM/Athletics fundraising announcement

Aren't the tees beautiful? Buy BLM/CSD tees! Thank you, Victorica, Liann, Jayvon and Shaila.

Regarding Victorica, we will share further information about Monroe Pedagogy's 2-year plan this fall. We are still drafting our plans due to these uncertain times of the pandemic and Distance Learning.

On the behalf of the school, we want to give special recognition to Kate Kovacs. Last June, she and her team of curriculum specialists put together BLM resources in CSD's website. Throughout the summer, she kept up the commitment to maintain/update our BLM resources. Thank you, Kate!

As promised, CSD, again, affirms to make sure that the school is a safe place where we can connect, learn, think freely and transform the world.

Black Lives Matter!
