Career Awareness

Freshmen students in this course, Career Awareness, will explore career interests through the use of self-assessments, interest inventories and activities. They will be able to discover how their career interests are aligned to their interests, skills, strengths, and abilities.  Students will be given the opportunity to assess their career goals that are both achievable and congruent to their potential.  Interpersonal skills, soft skills and communication skills expected on the job are practiced and discussed in the classroom. Learning the importance of making life-long/quality decisions in life are incorporated in both the classroom and outside of the classroom.  Development of a career portfolio, 10-hour volunteering experience, invitation of guest-speakers, attending field trips and diverse community projects are expected from each student in this class.
