The objective of this course is to enable students to install, program, operate, maintain, and service computers and diagnose operational problems in computer units of systems. Included is instruction in programming, operation, and preventive maintenance. It also includes instruction in the functional diagnosis, detection, isolation, and correction of malfunctions. The program describes the electrical and electronic circuits and mechanical device used in computer construction and how to install both software and hardware in individual computers. Instruments used to detect weakness or failures in electrical systems in computers are also described. Career awareness activities enhance the students’ ability to obtain entry-level employment opportunities.
