Dr. Michele Berke » Biography

Biography

Originally from the east coast, Michele Berke moved to California in 1990. Since then, she worked for the Gallaudet University Regional Center at Ohlone College and San Francisco State University before joining CSD. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Colorado in Boulder with a focus on how Deaf mothers read with their Deaf children. She holds a Multiple Subjects, DHH Educational Specialist and preliminary administrative credentials.

Berke has been working at CSD for over 8 years as the Student Outcomes Teacher Specialist. In this role, she is responsible for coordinating the state-mandated assessments and providing data analysis and support to teachers. In addition, she chairs the Assessment and Data committee and participates on the WASC writing committee.
