Smarter Balanced Assessments:
The Smarter Balanced Assessments http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/sa/index.asp) are computer adaptive tests that are aligned with the California Common Core Standards and are given to to students in Grades 3-8 and 11. The content areas tested are English Language Arts and Math. These tests are summative in that they are given at the end of the school year.

California Standards Test (CST), California Modified Assessment (CMA) and California Alternate Performance Assessment (CAPA) in Science.
The CST, CMA and CAPA Science tests (http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/ca/caasppscience.asp) are paper-based tests that are given to students in Grades 5, 8, and 10. These are summative tests and are given at the end of the school year. The determination about whether the student takes the CST, CMA or the CAPA is made based on certain criteria and decided by the IEP team.

California Alternate Assessment (CAA)
The California Alternate Assessment (http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/ca/altassessment.asp) is given to students, based on criteria decided by the IEP team, who are enrolled in CSD's Special Needs program. This computer-based assessment is given one-on-one at the end of the year in English Language Arts and Math.

Standards Test in Spanish (STS)
The STS is given to those students whose primary language is Spanish.

Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
All schools in California are required to give the PFT to students in grades 5, 7, and 9. Students are assessed in 6 areas of physical fitness and results are broken down into performance standards of being in the healthy fitness zone, needing improvement with some risk, and needing improvement with high risk. More information about the PFT can be found at: http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/pf
